Continuing our Quest for Improvement

Our Board Members actively report to their State Associations. Our representatives influence decision—making at the Regional and National level with active solicitation for state interests and concerns. We encourage State Associations to continue their proactive activities on national issues. We remind people of the importance of what we do and how we foster growth and development for children and families.

A series of dialogues have been started with the Regional Head Start Office to convey program challenges and successes with the intention to support the Regional office and local programs under these new circumstances. We continue our contract with NWREL to improve our Web site—making it more meaningful for all.

As a Board, we look forward to being more responsive to State Associations and a resource to all Region X Head Start and Early Head Start programs.

Scholarships and Awards

One of the most important activities of Region X Head Start Association (RXHSA) is promoting and encouraging applications, in the Region X Head Start community, for the National Head Start Association (NHSA) Scholarships and Awards. We are honored that a significant number of winners are from Region X.

The 2001 NHSA winners from Region X are:

We are very pleased to announce:

In addition to supporting the RXHSA Scholarship Program and forwarding the winner's applications to the NHSA, the Association contributes the following cash awards to either the winning applicant or their program:

Dollar Per Child Campaign

Another hallmark for our region is a significant increase in our contribution for the Dollar Per Child Campaign. RXHSA and the states within Region X contributed well over $15,000 in 2001. WELL DONE!! The money supports NHSA Governmental Affairs Division in its important work of advocating for our children and families and our program. Our national legislative strength depends on our contributions to Dollar Per Child.
