HISTORY
The Region X Head Start Association was established in August, 1978 by six directors: Linda Crum, Judy Cooper, Frances Mathison, Bette Peterson, Larry Siroshton and Eligio White to meet the need for linkages and communication among state directors and to keep programs informed on issues related to Head Start. The following goals were established.
- Meet quarterly with representatives from Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington State.
- Steer national administrative and legislative information to all Head Start programs.
- Provide mutual assistance to improve program quality.
- Develop a better public awareness and greater visibility of Head Start in each state.
- Develop, implement and maintain a communication/sharing system.
