When it comes to fashion, there are certain do’s and don’ts, just like with everything else. For example, you wouldn’t swim immediately after eating lunch, would you? We zero in on the ten things you must avoid in the field of fashion.

  1. Don’t always rely on the judgment of the fashion media. Sometimes, even fashion magazines can be wrong, even critics and fashion designers could be wrong. Try to encourage your own style, remember what looks good on models may not necessarily look good on you.
  2. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that all sorts of random things make a wardrobe. You might buy a scarf, a belt, a pair of earrings, a gypsy top, etc. thinking you can put it all together, but you’re wrong, you can’t. When it comes to shopping, stick to a plan.
  3. Don’t buy clothes which won’t fit. Don’t waste your money buying a smaller size promising yourself you’ll lose weight.
  4. Don’t choose the wrong undergarments. The right fit can make or break the look of a garment.
  5. Don’t let your style stagnate. Sure, you look great in jeans and Tshirt, but perhaps it’s time to try something new? Dare to think beyond your conventional fashion, dare to go out there and shop for something unique, something you haven’t tried before.
  6. Don’t wear red and green together. The two colors don’t match, and you’ll end up looking like a walking Christmas tree! These two shades clash. If you’re wearing one, don’t wear the other.
  7. Don’t ever wear dirty shoes. Keep them in style, keep them clean. Remember, shoes are one of the first things people will notice about you.
  8. Don’t overdo the bling. Stick to subtle jewelry, if it’s a party you’re going to, wear a little more, but you shouldn’t be ‘dripping with diamonds’.
  9. Don’t wear tights if you don’t have great shapely legs. Tights aren’t for everyone. Forcing yourself to wear them will mean people will get a good look at unwanted bulges and flab. Stick to what suits you.
  10. Don’t wear more than one pattern. Don’t team a striped shirt with a checked pair of trousers, and don’t wear a polka-dotted blouse with a striped skirt. Keep it to one pattern only. Your outfit shouldn’t be overburdened with patterns. Keep it simple, and sweet.
